The following files were helpful in preparation for the VIRTUAL BSA RADIO MERIT BADGE SESSION, which was held this past Friday, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th. The completed two day session was divided into 2 - two hour sessions the first was held on Friday, May15th and the second was held on Saturday, May 16th.

THE TIMES FOR BOTH DAYS WERE HELD BETWEEN 3:00 PM AND 5:00 PM - ALL SCOUTS WHO HAD SIGNED UP WERE GIVEN A LINK TO THE SESSION.

INTRODUCTION

My name is Ed Scallon, and I was the Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America Radio Merit Badge Session. Like any other skill, knowledge and practice develops the essential tools needed to succeed. Amateur Radio, the center of gravity of our Session, requires a workable understanding of electronics and a rather unique method of communication. Below are some helpful links that Scouts utilized as an introduction of what they experienced during the session. I also provided some examples of sample answers to the requirement(s). They are presented in order, following the required elements outlined in your Radio Merit Badge Series Booklet. Through the efforts of the Narragansett Counsel BSA Executive Liaison we can hold this Session using Zoom. The good new is that after completing this Session, you probably will be ready to "sit" for your FCC Technician's Class Amateur Radio License. Good Luck and Have fun.

Any problems with this web site or if the below links don't work, HAVE YOUR PARENT, SCOUT MASTER -or- UNIT LEADER leave me a note below, and I will correct the problem.
